Who are we?

CliMobilize is a Canadian-registered non-profit (federal registration  number 1519488-1) established by Brad Zarnett and Ian Kaplan for 1 purpose:

UNITE the billions of people who want to protect the planet and give HOPE for a better future.

Why CliMobilize?

We all live in a system that leaves us no choice but to “self-harm” on a daily basis. We're essentially "forced" to make purchasing and lifestyle decisions whose eventual environmental impact is heatwaves, drought, forest forest, crop failures, inflation and more. When the same kinds of policies are enacted almost everywhere, shaping our lives and forcing us to make decisions that contribute to climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation that impacts all of us everywhere, national borders become irrelevant. No matter where policies may be made, it suddenly becomes all of our business.

Few disagree that the bond between politicians, corporations and their lobbyists is preventing meaningful action to address the greatest challenge facing humanity today: climate change and environmental disaster due to unceasing consumption encouraged by a global economy that prioritizes growth, often at the expense of the voting electorate, social justice and the environment.

The vast majority of the scientists involved with the Intergovernmental Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) support the position that the mandate of the IPCC to examine the connection between human activity and climate change has been met and the science is unequivocal: human activities are at the heart of climate change and ecosystem degradation. They are also increasingly vocal in their criticism of the lack of follow-up, public awareness creation and political / system policy change.

As a logical progression to the work of the IPCC, CliMobilize, alongside like-minded partners, is seizing this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to initiate and channel locally-focused awareness-raising throughout the Global North to de-risk political action that can catalyze essential global change.

What's our solution?

We believe politicians everywhere need to declare a national climate emergency AND also be held accountable for taking appropriate actions in line with such a declaration, making sure that they indeed implement and deploy the appropriate tools, processes and resources available to them in their country. The combined impact and implementation of activities associated with these declarations would be meaningful change, at scale. But this requires overcoming existing political obstacles and dynamics that currently align politicians with "big money" to retain the status quo, instead of having politicians align with the interests of the people and environment. We aim to change this.

What do we want to achieve?

Realigning the actions of politicians with the interests of the public and environment can enable policies that will bring economies back into balance with the natural world, justly & equitably.

Top-level goals

  • Empower politicians to take decisive steps that address the causes and consequences of climate change, biodiversity loss and ecosystem degradation by de-risking their ability to implement regulation without fear of public backlash;

  • Break the bond between “big capital” and politics by reducing/eliminating politicians’ need for corporate financial support to facilitate a democratic reduction of non-essential consumption in richer countries [and related production everywhere];

  • Create immediate political accountability by connecting political activity during the existing election cycle with impactful progress towards meeting intermediate milestones along the path to achieving the ultimate long-term goal.

Climate change is here -
but don't despair!

We're giving people something we all crave -
a sense of HOPE and influence over our future.

We are
The climate awareness and policy change group

Our Strategy

To empower politicians across the democratic global north to declare a climate emergency so that they will take appropriate policy and legislative action, fast.

We have a 3 step strategy, and then the 4th step is up to YOU!

Connect the Dots

Together with leading-edge thought leaders, story-tellers and marketing partners, we're leading a massive awareness campaign throughout the democratic Global North. Using a combination of social media, mainstream advertising and people on the ground, we explain the connection between our everyday decisions, climate change, and the personal consequences.

Unite the Voices

After raising awareness through the campaigns in step 1, the campaigns in all countries change to adopt the same unified demand for action by local politicians: "Declare a climate emergency and implement meaningful policies that reduce environmental destruction NOW. No more long term promises! This unified electoral bloc compels politicians to declare the climate emergency.

Monitor the Progress

Once a climate emergency is declared, we track in real-time each politician’s environmentally- and socially-oriented political and legislative activity to determine the contribution to progress towards achieving intermediate milestones on the path to reaching the final goal(s) as defined by the UN’s Net-Zero by 2050 strategy.

Choose Better!

Come election time, voters can decide who to vote for based on the data-driven performance statistics of the candidates. Knowing that there is now a mechanism in place that ensures both accountability and transparency, politicians are incentivized to out-compete each other to see who can do the most to advance legislation and policies in line with the citizens’ demands for action enabled by the declaration of a climate emergency!

the dots

Ongoing discreet interactions between people of influence from the financial sectors to discuss the ramifications of increasingly common climate change-related tail-risk events.

the voices

Collaboratively prepare policy frameworks, regulatory strategies, policy proposals and legal guidelines to define and proactively shape climate-solvent economic frameworks.

the framework

Leverage Club members' influence and credibility to expedite recommendation presentation to and implementation by appropriate policy makers and regulators.

to sustainable profits

Growth and profitability within environmentally sustainable limitations for generations to come.

Our strategy is to provide a discreet forum for influential financial sector leaders to explore options and prepare for the inevitable economic, political and social system shift that will accompany an increasingly risk-laden environmental and business landscape.

Operating under Chatham House rules, the Club provides a uniquely discreet forum within which members can discuss and evaluate system-changing issues, from exit and transition strategies to “sun-setting” industries significantly contributing to climate change, from supply chain re-orientation strategies  to data deficits and use of out-of-date data / assumptions in existing risk models that then fail to take into account the full urgency and extremity of the situation, and even opportunities to re-allocate capital to sectors that urgently need to grow, in order to proactively prepare their respective industries to cope with an increasingly risk-prone natural and business environment. All without risking personal or business credibility.
